About
Posted on 04/25/2010 pm by AmberHello and thanks for visiting the Soulful Healing website and blog! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Professional Yoga Therapist Candidate. I created Soulful Healing because I have a passion for helping teens and adults find contentment and decrease stress in their lives. In my therapy practice, I seek to provide healing through a hybrid of Eastern and Western therapeutic traditions.
I do this by guiding clients in an exploration of their spiritual values, helping them create a vision for their life, and giving them concrete strategies to experience greater levels of fulfillment. I utilize mindfulness practices to help clients focus on internal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This allows clients to manage their feelings, make better choices, think fewer negative thoughts, communicate more easily, & react to stress more calmly.
After practicing clinical social work for 4 years, I began to understand that simply addressing the mind in order to heal tensions, losses, and fears was not enough for most people. The mind and body are inextricably linked, after all. How we treat our bodies affects our thoughts and emotions. How we think and feel impacts our bodies. Thus, I began exploring healing practices that incorporate the physical body into the healing of the mind and in that search I found yoga therapy (to learn more about yoga therapy, click the link to the left for the International Association of Yoga Therapists). The mindfulness strategies I use are grounded in 5,000 years of yoga philosophy. Whether you are looking for individualized yoga instruction or deeper therapeutic work, you have come to the right place. You do not need superhuman flexibility to participate in classes or in therapy with me, just a desire to experience your true Self more deeply! Sign up for my free newsletter!
